Well, Love Island has gone from being a series packed with, well, love and become a toxic mess with Luca Bish and Dami Hope sparking huge backlash from viewers.

After Mad Movies saw Luca flip out at Gemma Owen for doing absolutely nothing, he later reduced Tasha Ghouri to tears with numerous taunts during several challenges.

Eventually, it became too much and Andrew Le Page took charge after hearing his pals Luca and Dami chatting about his girlfriend.

Storming up to the pair, he snapped: ‘We’re literally meant to be mates in here and apparently you preach everything you’ve ever said you say it to my face.

‘You’ve then gone, “if Tasha was upset, you’d have said she’s the fakest in here”.’

In the latest episode of Love or Lie Island, Metro.co.uk’s body language expert Judi James suggests Luca and Dami’s behaviour is further attempts to make them ‘more dominant in the male pack’.

‘The girls do it as well,’ she says. ‘The amount of times the girls have said, “Oh, you do what you want – if you like somebody just go for it.”

‘I’m not saying they were as bad, but it just seems a bit more forensic with the guys and it boosts both of those in terms of potential Alpha profile.’

Judi recalled just a couple of weeks ago when Dami and Luca turned on each other, while the girls were in Casa Amor. After Luca encouraged the boys to kiss the new bombshells, Dami called him ‘fake’ – perhaps one of the most damaging insults to be hurled in Love Island.

Now, they’re ‘buddies in arms’ when it came to this conflict.

‘But a lot of the other guys in there, particularly somebody like Andrew, they’re very open to being pushed into certain behavior because the guys are egging them on. They shouldn’t be, he’s an adult, but he must have felt a burning resentment that a they were encouraging you to do what he did in Casa Amor, and then be the minute he came out, they were all gunning for his girlfriend.’

But Judi notes that Andrew didn’t appear to walk over the boys aggressively.

‘I don’t mean anger, but I just mean that build up to speak in your mind,’ she says. ‘He was still fiddling and rubbing his mouth.

‘I just had that feeling that there was a key in his back that may be been turned before he got there. I think you see your girlfriend getting upset like that then have a conversation, it’s like, “Oh, I’ve got to go and defend her now.”

Judi also notes Tasha’s initial reaction to Luca and Dami’s dig, explaining that she ‘actually takes it quite bravely’ and ‘saves her upset or it emerges a bit later’.

‘But maybe Luca and Dami together means that they’re not seeing it, they’re just hearing what the other one said,’ Judi explains. ‘Luca hasn’t got guilt going on. That’s the interesting thing because he hasn’t he hasn’t cheated.

‘It’s not an excuse that they wind each other up either absolutely not an excuse, but it’s a very strange dynamic when it comes to that.’

This week saw Dami in the bottom two of the public vote, his first time facing being eliminated from the villa by the islanders.

Luca’s family have hit back at vile death threats they’ve received from trolls, but have been supported by Luca’s friends who have now left Love Island and insisted he’s been nothing but ‘lovey’.

Even Tasha’s father urged people on social media to stop sending Luca abuse too.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2. Watch the full episode of Love or Lie Island here.
