What’s on in London this week: Screen on the Canal to London Action Festival-Simon Gage-Entertainment – Metro
Cinema is going big in the capital this week.

Love cinema? Then the capital has a treat in store for you this week, as your favourite films are on show across London.
If you love rom-coms head to King’s Cross for a canalside showing of 500 Days of Summer, or if you prefer a few more explosions, London Action Festival is the place for you.
But if you like your entertainment live, then there’s comedy from the likes of Isy Suttie and Rob Auton, or music from Orbital, Patti Smith and Fantastic Negrito happening this week.
Plus there’s a trip down memory lane to the awe-inspiring opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics to watch. How has it been 10 years?!
Friday 22nd

Underbelly Festival presents its customary Friday night assortment of stand up comedians with Edinburgh Festival veteran Rob Auton, Ian Smith, Helen Bauer and Brennan Reece a former winner of the year English Comedian of the Year Award.

Multidisciplinary artist Nwando Ebizie kicks off her Black Fabulous weekend, part of the Southbank Centre’s In The Black Fantastic summer season, with this free opening event on the Southbank’s terrace – ‘leading you through guided visualisations, ritual cultures of the Black Atlantic and an experimental performance.’

Kaleidoscope Festival

A one day festival with spectacular views over London – Orbital and Happy Monday are at the top of the bill with other acts including Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon and the Magic Numbers, DJs include Craig Charles with his Funk and Soul Show plus stand up comedy from Dom Joly and Ed Byrne.

Commemorating 10 years since London hosted the Olympic Games this special event at the Olympic Park celebrates with an array of entertainment and activities.
BBC Music Introducing assembles the musical entertainment on the main stage and there will be performances from the London School of Samba and street dance troupe Breakin’ Convention.
Visitors can also try out roller skating, samba dancing, drumming, cycling and rowing.

This performance was originally scheduled as part of the Higher Ground festival – but that’s all changed and fans can now enjoy this evening with the legendary ‘godmother of punk’ at the London Palladium instead.

Everyman Cinema once again hosts Screen on the Canal – showing sporting events and films on a big screen on Regent’s Canal throughout the summer.
Today’s programme presents coverage of the Tour de France followed by films Onward and Rocks, rounded off by romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer.
The events are unticketed but get your place on the grassy steps in Granary Square while spaces are available.

She’s joined on the bill by Chris Neill who will be trying out new material for his Radio 4 show Raging Enigma.

South Pacific

The Chichester Festival Theatre’s acclaimed production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical, featuring songs including Some Enchanted Evening and I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair, transfers to Sadler’s Wells. Starring Julian Ovenden and Gina Beck.

Thursday 28th
London Action Festival

A must see event for lovers of action films – this weekend long festival opens tonight with a special awards ceremony plus a screening of Die Hard and Q and A with director John McTiernan.
Later events include screenings of Predator and Con Air with Q and A sessions with the directors, a panel about Asian action films and a panel on how to become a stunt man.
