What is the Rick and Morty season 6 release date? Cast, plot, and how to watch-Robert Oliver-Entertainment – Metro

It’s official: Rick and Morty will be returning for a sixth season. We’ve got instructions for how to watch the latest episodes when the season airs.

The Adult Swim cartoon has been on the air now for almost nine years, first airing back in December 2013. The fifth season aired in 2021, and some of its episodes received a mixed reaction from fans.

The show itself has suffered a drop in ratings ever since the network decided to release season four in two separate instalments, although new Hulu comedy Solar Opposites has been favourably compared to Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s show.

News emerged earlier this week that cantankerous scientist Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith would be featured in the new MultiVersus game from Warner Media, with hackers already managing to insert Rick into the game’s lobby menu while players choose their characters.

When is Rick and Morty season 6 coming out?

The sixth season of Rick and Morty will premiere on Adult Swim on September 4, at 11pm ET/PT in the United States.

The comedy cartoon series has already been renewed for 10 seasons, with Harmon and Roiland already hard at work on season seven and season eight.

If the gaps between previous seasons are anything to go by, it might be another 18 months before we see anything beyond season six. Season seven may not hit our screens until January 2024.

How to watch in the UK

You should be able to watch the new episodes on Netflix (Picture: Adult Swim)

There’s no word yet on when UK and international viewers will be able to watch Rick and Morty season six after its September premiere, but previous seasons have seen brand new episodes aired on E4 (owned by Channel 4) the day after their release in the United States.

The first five seasons of Rick and Morty are currently available on Netflix, and can also be purchased on Apple TV and Amazon Video, as well as SkyGo and Google Play. Season six is very likely to end up on the same streaming services as the show’s previous seasons.

Who is in the cast?

So many characters, but who’s voicing them? (Picture: Adult Swim)

Rick and Morty has a famously small voice cast, with the two main characters both voiced by Justin Roiland. Sarah Chalke is set to return to voice Beth, while Chris Parnell and Spencer Grammer will reprise their roles as Jerry and Summer Smith.

As for additions to the voice cast, it is unclear who will be joining the roster. The show has famously featured appearances from Elon Musk, Taika Waititi, Steve Buscemi, and John Oliver in previous seasons.

How will season 5 affect the show’s future?

The end of season 5 spelled trouble for ‘our’ Rick (Picture: Adult Swim)

The end of season five, in typical Rick and Morty fashion, flipped the show’s universe on its head.

Evil Morty blew up the Citadel and completely destroyed the Central Finite Curve, allowing him to enter a universe where Rick is not the smartest being in it.

Who knows what could happen if Evil Morty discovers the secret to getting rid of ‘our’ Rick once and for all.
