Bjorn Ulvaeus has congratulated the England Women’s football team on reaching the Euro 2022 final and said their use of Abba music to celebrate their win over Sweden makes the defeat ‘a little easier to bear’.

The Lionesses triumphed in their match against Sweden on Tuesday night and are now on their way to Wembley, where they’ll play against Germany.

It’d be fair to say the game presented challenges, with a number of tense moments as the opposition edged towards the goal, however thanks to the team’s inspiring performance, they’re one step closer to lifting the trophy.

Goals from Beth Mead, Lucy Bronze, substitute Alessia Russo, and Fran Kirby saw the Lionnesses win 4-0, with celebrities and former pro footie stars quick to offer their congratulations.

Swedish musician Bjorn recorded a video message for the England team, in which he was dressed in his country’s national football strip.

In the video, posted to the official Abba Voyage Instagram page, the singer said: ‘Dear Lionesses, I’m Bjorn from Abba.

‘I understand that you celebrated your well earned victory the other day with Abba music and I have to say that that makes the defeat a little easier to bear.

‘So, congratulations.’

The post’s caption also congratulated the Lionesses on ‘a well played game and excellent taste in music’.

Fans of the Waterloo hitmaker were loving how supportive he was being of the Lionesses, calling him a ‘true gent’.

‘This video made my day! Bjorn is so adorable ❤️’, another wrote.

Elsewhere, Bjorn recently introduced the world to a new romantic partner after splitting from his wife of 41 years.
