Unseen footage from The X Factor UK has revealed that a lacklustre first performance from Harry Styles was cut and instead an improved second song was aired.
An extended cut of his audition released for the first time shows the then 16-year-old belting out Hey, Soul Sister by Train.
But, the performance was never aired on the 2010 version of the ITV competition show and now, 12 years later, it has finally been unearthed.
In the video, judge Louis Walsh was initially impressed by the choice, telling the One Direction star it was his ‘favourite song in the charts.’
After delivering a slightly pitchy performance of the hit, Simon Cowell, 62, jumped in, asking the Watermelon Sugar singer if he could sing a cappella.
‘I don’t know whether it’s the track that’s throwing you, but can I hear something that’s just you without any music?’, the music mogul said.

An unfazed Harry, now 28, without breaking a sweat, simply suggested Isn’t She Lovely? by Stevie Wonder.
It was this performance of the iconic song that made the final cut of The X Factor UK, earning Harry a coveted spot in the next round.
Imagine if they never gave him a second chance?!

Simon asked: ‘What do you do in the bakery?’
‘I like, serve the cakes in the shop,’ Harry deadpanned to the delight of the audience, who erupted into laughter.
Harry went on to share some delicious bites of information about his former occupation, revealing the Viennese biscuits and millionaire shortbreads were the most popular sweet treats.

Unfortunately, it was a bad time for white coburg bread (even Simon had to ask Harry what it was), which wasn’t tickling customers’ fancies so much, according to the Dunkirk actor.
Blowing a raspberry and giving a thumb’s down, Harry expressed his displeasure for the loaf, prompting more giggles from the audience.
It is the second time in recent weeks X Factor bosses have released never-seen-before footage about members of One Direction.

Last Saturday, footage revealed who really was behind the formation of one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
And, no, it wasn’t Liam Payne.

The 28-year-old had claimed on Logan Paul’s podcast that Simon formed the five-piece ‘around his face.’
Not only did Liam nearly not make the cut, with Simon expressing reservations over the Strip That Down singer, but it was really Nicole Scherzinger who had a heavy influence in the final line-up.
