If you thought that intense pain and comedic stunts would pay the big bucks, think again – Jackass’ Danger Ehren and Steve-O have revealed just how much the cast get paid per stunt and it’s not the mega-bucks you might imagine.

Speaking to fellow Jackass star Steve-O on his podcast Wild Ride, Ehren revealed exactly how much the cast earned from each of their dangerous stunts.

Danger, whose real name is Ehren McGhehey, even claimed that he actually made his money from the real estate business, despite being a regular on the Jackass TV series and subsequent movies.

‘[The cast receive] $400 per skit (£326),’ he said, before Steve-O – real name Stephen Glover – added that it was ‘$200 for a prank’ (£163) and closer to $500 dollars (£408) if it was a ‘life and limb’ situation.

Ehren has suffered several injuries since the series began back in October 2000, including ‘blowing out’ one of his testicles on the set of Jackass Forever and fracturing his skull while filming for Jackass 3D.

Ehren then explained that where he actually made his money had very little to do with Jackass or stunt work at all.

Speaking a little more about how he came to make money from the world of properties and real estate, Ehren revealed that he used the money from the first two Jackass films to buy five houses.

‘You look back now like, “Ehren you have all this real estate,” he began. ‘I bought it with the money I made on the first Jackass movie which was $65,000 (£53,100) or something, I got loans.’

He continued: ‘[You can] become a millionaire off $10,000 (£8,200). It does help to have money, obviously.

‘People might say “Well, you had an opportunity”. [But] plenty of people have opportunities and still blow it, and many people don’t have an opportunity and make it,’ he argued.

‘You can buy one and you can leverage off of that if you have good credit and whatever else,’ he said.

Speaking back in 2010, Ehren revealed how he came to fracture his skull during a stunt that involved having a tooth pulled out by a string that was attached to a Lambourghini.

‘I broke my face all the way up to almost my eye,’ he told US-based newspaper Willamete Week at the time. ‘That was pretty gnarly’.

The Jackass series are available to stream on Paramount Plus now.
