Love Island has smashed streaming records and scored its highest viewing figures for the finale in four years.

Following the last episode, which Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu crowned the winners, it’s been confirmed that the entire reality programme’s eight series had an eye-watering 250million streams, making it the most-watched series on ITV Hub.

Over on TV, some 3.4million viewers tuned in to watch the ITV2 show in the biggest finale in terms of audience numbers since 2019.

In more impressive results, an additional 100,000 fans have been watching all the antics in the villa year on year over the past four years.

Over the course of this series, an average of 2.7million Love Island addicts have been reaching for the remote based on overnight ratings, which also makes it the second-most watched series after 2019.

The final episode on Monday night saw Ekin-Su and Davide, both 27, walk away with the £50,000 cash prize, with Gemma Owen and Luca Bish announced runner’s up.

Davide and Ekin-Su were the firm favourites, even with celebs like Hollywood star Margot Robbie, who credited the couple for providing ‘pure entertainment.’

Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope finished in third place, while Tasha Ghouri, the series’ first-ever deaf contestant, and Andrew Le Page came in fourth place.

Both Ekin-Su and Davide were shocked to have won Love Island, with Ekin-Su bursting into tears when host Laura Whitmore announced the result.

While being interviewed by the 37-year-old, who is married to the show’s narrator Iain Stirling, Davide joked his favourite moment was branding Ekin-Su a ‘liar’ in a now iconic moment.

But on more of a sweeter note, he revealed he would be bringing Ekin-Su to Italy to meet the rest of his family after she got the seal of approval from his mother and sister.

The entire series of Love Island is available to stream on the ITV Hub.
