Ashton Kutcher revealed an unexpected injury during a 17-mile marathon training run: that his nipples actually started to bleed.

The 44-year-old actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, and was talking about preparing to run the New York Marathon.

He told guest host David Alan Grier: ‘I had bloody nipples. I’m like what is happening right now.

‘My legs were fine, but my nipples were on fire.’

David had already predicted the injury happening it seemed, and to help him ‘survive’, the host handed Ashton ‘band aids’ for his nipples, which came in the form of gold nipple tassles.

‘Put these bad boys on,’ David told him, as the What Happens in Vegas asked if he could put them on.

Ashton also revealed that this was his first marathon, which he was running to support Thorn, a charity fighting against the sexual exploitation of children.

‘I started training for it, on my treadmill watching the instructor, doing the thing, I have one of these Peloton treadmills, and I’m like, “Man this is a lot of running,”‘ he said.

‘Because the only thing you can do to get better at running is run.’

He added that he even called Peloton with an idea for a show that involved him and his friends in his basement, interviewing them as he ran.

‘So we set this thing up in my basement, and we’ve been shooting, and we’ve shot like 10 episodes of this show with Natalie Portman, Kenny Chesney and with just friends, Chris Paul, that come over.’

‘It’s making running fun!’ Ashton admitted.

Ashton’s marathon prep comes after he reassured fans he has ‘fully recovered’, having been left unable to ‘see, hear or walk’ due to a rare autoimmune disorder.

Speaking in a clip from an upcoming episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls shared by Access Hollywood, the dad-of-two revealed: ‘Like two years ago, I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis, that like knocked out my vision, it knocked out my hearing, it knocked out like all my equilibrium’.

He added: ‘It took me like a year to build it all back up again. You don’t really appreciate it until it’s gone, until you go, “I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to see again; I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to hear again; I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to walk again.”’

According to the NHS, vasculitis involves the inflammation of the blood vessels, with the immune system attacking healthy blood vessels and causing them to become swollen and narrow.

‘I had some impairments hear, vision, balance issues right after. I fully recovered. All good.  Moving on. See you at the 2022 NY Marathon w/Thorn.’
