Gemma Owen has insisted she’s staying out of the Love Island drama and won’t be throwing ‘shade’ at her former co-stars.

The 19-year-old star – who is dating Luca Bish after they coupled up in the villa – has responded after the other Islanders have been taking sly digs at each other since the series ended.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she said: “I’ve tried to keep out of this as much as possible. I’m not going to be throwing shade on anyone.

‘I hope no one’s got anything bad to say about me. I’m keeping out of all the drama, I just want a nice life!’

She also looked to shrug off speculation she had a romantic history with Billy Brown and that something went on in Majorca away from the cameras.

‘There was a rumour about me and Billy knowing each other before the show, or there was something more [between us] on the show that people didn’t get to see,’ she explained.

‘I’d like to set straight that that is not true. I made it very clear to Billy that it was just a friendship thing and that my eyes were only for Luca.’

Her comments about not wanting to get involved in any drama come after this year’s winner Ekin-Su revealed Gemma wasn’t part of her Love Island girls group chat.

‘Just the girls. we’ve got… No, we don’t have all the girls in it as well. It’s only me, Tasha and Indiyah in it,’ she recently said.

Meanwhile, Capital Breakfast host Roman Kemp – who has interviewed this year’s Islanders since they left the villa – has suggested Luca and Gemma might not have been too popular among their co-stars.

He told the Mirror Online: ‘What I’ve heard – weirdly when people have come and chatted to us – they’ve all said the same thing.

‘When I say, “Who did you get on with in the Villa”, it was quite telling no-one said Gemma or Luca. Everyone said Tasha and Andrew, do you know what I mean?’

Love Island can be streamed in full on ITV Hub now.
