Just when you thought Tom Hardy couldn’t add any more strings to his bow, he goes and wins two gold medals in a Jiu-Jitsu event.

The actor, 44, is a Hollywood star and currently the lead of the Venom franchise, and is now apparently a master of the Brazilian martial art as well.

Hardy is reported to have won all of his matches during a charity event at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton over the weekend.

Danny Appleton, a man who competed against Hardy in the event, had no idea that the Peaky Blinders actor had even entered the competition.

Appleton was then forced to ‘tap out’ (forfeit) in the semi-final contest between the pair, allowing Hardy to progress to the competition’s final.

Speaking to LADBible after the event, Appleton said: ‘I did try my best, but he was just a lot stronger than me, I’ve got to admit.’

Posting on Instagram, Hardy’s semi-final opponent said: ‘Imagine waiting for a semi-final match, first blue belt tournament, and Tom Hard comes matside.’

He continued: ‘What an honour, strong as a bull but I tried my best. Amazing day for an even better cause.’

Hardy is then said to have made light work of the final match in that particular tournament, apparently defeating his opponent with ease.

The Mad Max: Fury Road star began learning Jiu-Jitsu in 2018 while filming for the first Spider-Man alter-ego film he starred in.

The event in the west Midlands was in aid of a charity that supports army veterans and first responders struggling with mental and physical health problems.

Hardy’s career as an actor began back in 2001, when he appeared in a minor role on the HBO limited series Band of Brothers.

He appeared in two episodes of the Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks co-created war drama as John Janovec, alongside stars David Schwimmer and Damian Lewis.

In 2016, he received his first Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor – he earned the nomination for his work in The Revenant.

His next project is the Gareth Evans-helmed thriller Havoc.
