Can you imagine being saved from drowning by Will Byers?

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp might currently be one of the most famous teenagers on the planet, but he’s keeping himself ‘grounded’ with a humble summer job.

And it seems he might have taken a leaf out of Billy’s season three pastime with his side gig, working as a lifeguard at a swimming pool.

It’s safe to say the 17-year-old actor doesn’t need the job, having starred in Netflix mega hit Stranger Things as Will Byers since 2016.

He’s since amassed over 27million followers on Instagram and over 30m on TikTok… many of whom might be surprised by his lifeguard stint, which he said he does ‘just for fun’.

‘It’s kind of a “just for fun thing”,’ he told Flaunt magazine, explaining how outside of the stardom that’s come from being in the cast of Stranger Things, much of his life is ‘normal’.

‘I’ve kind of grown up with a normal life and normal friends and stuff outside of Stranger Things, so it’s kind of kept me grounded,’ he said.

Several fans expressed shock over the revelation, while also imagining how they’d react if they ever found themselves in a situation where Noah had to save them in the water.

‘If I’m drowning and Mr Bowlcut saved me I would be convinced I died,’ one person said while light-heartedly mocking Will’s signature Stranger Things haircut.

‘So he cosplays as Billy?’ someone else quipped, while another Twitter user wrote: ‘He couldn’t save himself from the Upside Down so how can I trust him with my life underwater?’

While Noah may be adept at saving others in deep water, he recently found himself in hot water after sharing DMs he was sent by singer Doja Cat, when she asked if he could set her up with Eddie Munson actor Joseph Quinn.

After Doja Cat, 26, expressed her anger on social media over the situation, saying that it was ‘unbelievably socially unaware’ that he divulged their private conversation, Noah reached out to her to apologise.

‘I’m super unserious on social media and pretty goofy, so I posted that not thinking too much of it, but obviously it hurt her feelings,’ he told Variety.

‘So, as I should, I apologised and she was totally okay with it, and was like, “I’m sorry how I reacted.” It was all good. I love her. I’m like the biggest fan of her music, and I told her that. I was like, you’re literally my role model.’

Stranger Things is available to watch on Netflix.
