A customer visiting The Repair Shop was left feeling ‘very emotional’ after her late brother’s beloved dog toy was mended.

Sue traveled to the furniture fixing team in the hopes they would be able to restore a cherished dog toy that was able to flip pancakes.

Named ‘Pancake Dog’, the sentimental item was shared between Sue and her brother Andrew when they were both children.

Welling up, Sue explained her brother was in a serious car accident and, while he survived the initial incident, died a year later from complications at the age of 26.

The reason behind fixing the pup was because Sue was hoping the toy would ‘spark some memories’ in her father, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Sue said while the ultimate dream would be to see the beloved model fully functioning again, just to see it ‘tided up’ would be a huge deal.

Fans were all for a successful restoration for ‘Pancake Dog’, with one writing: ‘Britain is willing pancake dog to get better. I so want dad to remember the memories.’

Another remarked: ‘I’m here for Pancake Dog.’

‘I am a big softy. The Repair Shop always brings a tear to my eye,’ a viewer added.

Once the team had worked their magic, Sue looked hopeful as she waited for the big reveal, saying she was ‘excited.’

‘I hope he looks a little better and he can flip pancakes again,’ she added.

Sue was nearly speechless when she saw the antique again, exclaiming: ‘Oh wow, he looks brand new. He looks great, thank you.’

The restorers had also repaired the mechanics, meaning the pup could once again flex his chef’s flick, which left Sue ‘very emotional.’

She added: ‘Andrew would be over the moon. He would be as happy as I am I’m sure.’

The Repair Shop continues next Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
