Thunder Rosa has been ruled out of next month’s All Out show due to injury and AEW confirmed plans to find an interim champion at the event.

The current AEW World Women’s Champion made the devastating announcement on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite as she spoke backstage with Tony Schiavone.

She revealed the injury news to viewers and explained while she won’t be able to compete at All Out on September 4, four stars will battle to be crowned interim champ.

Toni Storm – who was set to battle Rosa for the gold – will face off with Dr. Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida at the event.

The winner will then face Rosa at a later date once she has recovered from her injury, and the winner of that bout will be named the official champion.

The injured star shared a video of her announcement on Twitter alongside three heartbroken emojis, and fans were quick to send messages of support.

‘I hope you get better soon, the title belongs around your waist. Sending big get well hugs,’ tweeted one viewer.

‘Still the champion in my eyes,’ wrote another person, while a third Twitter user added: ‘Heal up soon, champ! Can’t wait to see you back!’

The decision to crown an interim champion instead of stripping Rosa of the gold has confused some fans, particularly after the company just did the same thing with AEW World Champion CM Punk.

Punk was injured days after capturing the gold at Double Or Nothing in May, and Moxley went on to become interim champ, holding the fort until the official titleholder returned.

On Wednesday’s episode, the pair fought midway through the show to decide the true champ, with Mox decimating the veteran in a matter of minutes.

AEW Dynamite airs Wednesday nights at 1am.
