Måneskin frontman Damiano David gets his bum out in leather chaps at VMAs – while viewers rage over ‘censored’ performance-Emily Bashforth-Entertainment – Metro

Måneskin are no strangers to daring outfits and rock and roll performances, and they certainly delivered both at this year’s MTV VMAs.
The 2021 Eurovision winners took home the award for best alternative video for their viral hit I Wanna Be Your Slave, and later took to the stage to perform their recent hit Supermodel.
Frontman Damiano David put on a seriously cheeky display in a pair of black leather chaps as they took to the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The 23-year-old definitely wasn’t shy about baring all as he paraded around the stage wearing the cut-out trousers, likely giving audience members a view of far more than they paid for.
He also went shirtless and showed off his extensive tattoo collection, while dancers surrounded the band and performed sultry moves.
However, fans of the Italian rockers were left raging as the majority of their live performance was censored, seemingly when bassist Victoria De Angelis’s nipples were on show.

Expressing their frustration on Twitter, one fan wrote: ‘Maneskin was about to be the most exciting part of this show and they censored half of it #VMAs’.
‘maneskin dropping out of r&l to perform on the vmas then 90% of their performance on the vmas being censored’, said another.
A third penned: ‘justice for #Maneskin !! let’s make nipples free to be seen! a man with a shirtless and buttocks out is fine, the woman’s breasts are censored!’
The group – also consisting of Thomas Raggi and drummer Ethan Torchio – admitted they ‘didn’t expect’ to win after taking home their first ever VMA.
‘There’s a lot of great, great artists here, so it’s an honour for us, of course,’ they told Entertainment Tonight.

Since winning the Eurovision Song Contest last year, Måneskin have only gone from strength to strength, performing on stages all over the world and achieving major success with singles including Supermodel and Mamma Mia.
Elsewhere at the VMAs, Damiano’s butt cheeks weren’t the only talking point, as Johnny Depp made a surprise comeback by appearing virtually as a moonperson.

Other big winners included Taylor Swift, who left fans speechless by announcing the title and release date for her new album, and Harry Styles, who was the only Brit to scoop a trophy.
