The Great British Bake Off unveils trailer and cast of 2022 sending fans into meltdown-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

The Great British Bake Off has given us what we’ve all been waiting for and unveiled this year’s cast, along with a trailer teasing the upcoming season.

Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith have returned to the Bake Off tent, with Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas bringing all the fun.

In a brand new trailer teasing this season, Matt and Noel already have the new contestants chuckling, before chaos erupts in the tense.

‘Oh flip!’ shouts one new baker, Maxy, while Matt is reassuring another baker: ‘It landed the right side up!’

‘Utterly delicious,’ Prue begins, before a montage of Paul’s criticism takes over…

As well as the trailer, the new class of 2022 have been revealed, and joining Maxy in this year’s line-up are Abdul, Carol, Dawn, James, Janusz and Kevin.

Maisam, Rebs, Sandro, Syabira, and Will complete the line-up of 12, and some fans are already predicting who will make it to the end, with one penning: ‘CAROL A QUEEN I’M CALLING IT NOW.’

Fans have of course been sent into meltdown with the new trailer, with one writing: ‘What a nice Surprise, Best of Luck to the Bake Off Class of 2022!’

Another wrote: ‘Can’t wait! The only thing I watch religiously every single year!! Bake Off is my comfort show.’

Despite a disgruntled Paul telling some bakers: ‘It’s a bit too thick, dry, textures all wrong, it’s overbaked,’ the trailer doesn’t hint that the heatwave we faced this year sent the bakers into too much trouble.

Although, if past experience is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see the melty chaos erupting from the tent, with chocolate disasters, soggy pastry and hopefully no more ice cream disasters collapsing.

The trailer follows the official return date being announced just days ago, with a fun pun in tow of course.

‘Here’s a little something… The Great British Bake Off is back on your screens on Tuesday 13th September at 8pm!’

Last year’s series saw Italian Giuseppe Dell’Anno crowned as the winner, in what was quite the year for the nation. 

He beat off competition from Crystelle Perreira and Will Chirag (aka Chigs) in a nail-biting finale which left fans wanting more immediately after.

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday, 13 September at 8pm.
