Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation court case to be subject of ‘graphic’ documentary -Kim Novak-Entertainment – Metro
The two-part documentary will look at both sides of the story.

A new documentary set to be released this month will follow Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s court case ‘in graphic detail’, it has been revealed.
The two-part documentary, titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial is set to air on Discovery+ this month as a follow-up to Johnny vs Amber, which chronicled Johnny’s 2020 libel lawsuit against The Sun for calling him a wife-beater.
While Depp, 59, lost the UK trial, he emerged victorious in the US trial which was televised and available to stream globally, also winning him an army of support on social media.
According to a press release from Discovery+ via NME, the docuseries will present a ‘forensic account of the key evidence and turning points of the case from both sides’, and will examine ‘in graphic detail the struggles inside the dysfunctional and turbulent A-list marriage.’
The series is set to include interview’s with Depp’s lawyers, reporters and legal experts as well as exploring both sides of the story.
The first episode reportedly covers the trial from Depp’s side, looking into his ‘abusive childhood and drug dependencies’, to present an ‘alternative version of events that show Johnny to be a victim of domestic abuse himself’.

The second part of the series will focus on Heard’s side, including ‘her detailed description of alleged sexual assault told on camera for the first time’ and how ‘advocates of Depp mercilessly attacked her via social media’.
Depp had sued Heard, 36, for $50million (£43million) after her 2018 Washington Post op-ed detailing her experiences with sexual violence, despite her not having named him in the article.

Heard had pursued a $100million (£86million) counterclaim against Depp for allegedly creating a ‘smear campaign’ against her.
Following a six-week trial a jury fund that Heard had defamed Depp on all three counts, ordering Heard to award him $10million (£8million) in compensatory damages and a further $5million (£4million) in punitive damages, the latter of which was later reduced to the state’s legal limit of $350,000 (£302,000).
Heard was meanwhile awarded $2million (£1.7million) after the jury found that one of Depp’s lawyers had defamed her by alleging she had created a detailed hoax, including messing up the couple’s apartment to look worse for police.
Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial will be released on Discovery+ on September 19.
