“I Aspire to Be Like Amanda”- Kayla Harrison Wants to Be the Greatest of All Time

Kayla Harrison was the first American to win an Olympic medal in judo back in 2012 at London. She is also the former lightweight PFL women’s champion. Recently, she made her debut in the Invicta FC and beat Courtney King by TKO in the closing seconds of round number 2. Now, the judoka is an undefeated fighter with eight wins to her name.

She joined Aaron Bronsteter in an interview where Bronsteter shared his views on who the Greatest of all time is. He named Amanda Nunes and Harrison replied, “Of course we all know who the greatest of all time is. It’s not up for debate, it’s a fact at this point. She is the greatest and you know if you wanna be the greatest. You have to either surpass what she did or you have to fight her.”

Harrison continued, “Right now she has her path I have mine. I have talked about it so many times and I’m so sick of it. I like Amanda I aspire to be like Amanda I have so much respect for her. So my goal is just continue to get better, continue to rack up wins, continue to stay the course, and be worthy of challenging that someday.”

Harrison admits she wants to be the G.O.A.T., and she knows how to achieve that. As the two are currently in different promotions, Harrison will look to surpass ‘The Lioness’ as beating her may be tough considering the lack of cross-promotional fights UFC fighters engage in.

For now, she held high regards for the current UFC women’s double champ, who is her teammate at ATT. There is no tension between them, even though Kayla Harrison is chasing the same path.

Harrison said, “She comes to the gym always with a smile on her face There’s just not one bad thing I can say about her.”

Fans can only hope and pray for this dream fight, as Harrison still has a long road ahead in her career before she can actually challenge ‘The Lioness’.
