Police are investigating the death of PnB Rock, after he was shot dead at the age of 30.

The rapper – real name Rakim Allen – was fatally shot on Monday in South Los Angeles, while eating at a Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles restaurant.

According to reports, a struggle erupted after a gunman entered the eatery and demanded jewelry, before opening fire.

Los Angeles Chief of Police Michel Moore told the Los Angeles Times that the incident occurred shortly after the late musician – who has previously worked with Ed Sheeran and XXXTentacion – was tagged on social media with his location.

PnB Rock ‘was with his family – with his girlfriend or some kind of friend of his – and as they’re there, enjoying a simple meal, [he] was brutally attacked by an individual who apparently [came] to the location after a social media posting,’ he said.

Sources claimed to the publication that he was targeted for his jewelry.

The gunman then fled the scene while PnB Rock was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation is currently ongoing to identify the shooter, with officers looking through footage from the restaurant and nearby areas.

PnB Rock came to fame when he released his first mixtape in 2014, signing a record deal with Atlantic the following year – with his 2016 hit, Selfish, charting at 51.

He also appeared on the soundtrack to 2017 flick, The Fate of the Furious, featuring on tracks alongside Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz and Kodak Black.
