Zendaya is apparently so famous these days that even her own mother has to ask permission for a photo.

The Spider-Man actress made history at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday when she won lead actress for her role in Euphoria for a second time, becoming the first Black actress to do so.

Naturally, her proud mum wanted to take a moment with her daughter before she was announced as the winner, but party pooper security guards splashed cold water on their glory.

In her Instagram stories, Zendaya’s mother Claire Stoermer shared a sweet photo of the two hugging at the awards show while explaining the hilarious encounter to her followers.

‘[I] made my way to Z before they awarded her the Emmy and gave her the biggest hug and said… breathe!!!” Claire began. ‘The man who tried to stop me said “where are your credentials?”’

Revealing how she worked her way around the security mishap, Claire added: ‘I said “i’m zendaya’s mom” and kept walking!! hahaha! i never name drop like that but i have to do it.’

Claire later shared a photo of Zendaya posing with her Emmy and Euphoria co-stars, and said: ‘I love this group of people… When Z is working on Euphoria, I don’t worry about her! @samlev00 and @ashlevinson thank you!!’

It’s no surprise that Claire wanted to celebrate Zendaya’s night with the star herself, as it’s the second year the actress has made history at the Emmys.

In September 2020, the Dune actress made history as the youngest ever actress to win the lead actress Emmy and beat off competition from the likes of Olivia Colman, Jennifer Aniston, and Jodie Comer.

After her powerful performance in season two, which premiered in January, and according to fans everywhere, there was only one clear winner.

During her speech, the Malcolm and Marie star thanked her loved ones before going on to pay tribute to anyone suffering from addiction.

‘My greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people,’ she said.

‘I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me. I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.’
