The explosive trailer has been released for the upcoming documentary exploring Johnny Depp’s trial against Amber Heard.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor successfully sued his ex-wife for defamation over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018, in which she discussed her experiences with domestic abuse.
Despite never being named in the article, the 59-year-old’s lawyers argued that it implied he was violent towards her during their relationship, which he fiercely denied.
The proceedings gripped the world and Discovery+ will be releasing a two-part special, titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial, next week.
Footage from the courtroom was used in the trailer, showing the former couple on the stand to discuss their tumultuous marriage, with Depp’s lawyers – including Camille Vasquez and Ben Chew – sharing their insight into the case.
‘It’s easy to look at this case and think these are two celebrities, too much money, that had a really awful relationship,’ Vasquez told the camera.

‘But this is a man’s life.’
The first of the two-part docuseries will investigate the Edward Scissorhands star’s side of the case, delving into his childhood and drug issues, as well as his legal team heading into the trial.
A second instalment will focus on Heard’s account, including her allegations of sexual assault throughout their romance and the hugely negative reception she was given on social media while proceedings were ongoing.

After a lengthy six-week trial, which was live-streamed on YouTube with millions around the globe tuning in, a jury found in Depp’s favor and awarded him $8million of the $50million he sought in damages.
The Aquaman actress was given $2million of the $100million countersuit after winning one of her counter claims.

She has since launched an appeal, switching up her legal team by hiring new lawyers in preparation.
