Dame Mary Berry couldn’t believe her ears when her former Great British Bake Off co-star Paul Hollywood was brought up on Celebrity MasterChef.
From 2010 until 2016, Dame Mary and Paul were both judges on the nation’s favourite baking show, crowning winners including John Whaite, Nadiya Hussain and Candice Brown.
However, following its move from the BBC to Channel 4 in 2017, Prue Leith took over as a new judge next to Paul place.
On tonight’s episode of Celebrity MasterChef, which was rescheduled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the seven semi-finalists were tasked with serving up dishes based on recipes concocted by Dame Mary.
When the national treasure went to RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Kitty Scott-Claus’ station, she and Gregg Wallace did some digging to find out how her preparations were coming along.
Gregg then asked the drag queen: ‘How are you, cooking for Dame Mary Berry?’

‘I am very, very excited,’ Kitty responded, before adding: ‘I wish Paul Hollywood was here too, because he’s a bit of a dish and all.’
At this remark, Dame Mary looked absolutely gobsmacked, before Kitty continued to dish out more compliments.

‘No offence Mary, you’re gorgeous too. But Paul Hollywood… phwoar, those eyes,’ Kitty said.
‘He’s known for those,’ Dame Mary replied, with a glint in her eye.
Tonight’s semi-final saw Kitty go up against fellow celebrities including former professional footballer Jimmy Bullard, Love Island star Faye Winter, presenter Lisa Snowdon, actor Cliff Parisi, singer Mel Blatt and McFly musician Danny Jones.

The first semi-final airing tonight was originally supposed to air on the day that the Queen died.
In a statement shared on social media, the official account for MasterChef said: ‘#CelebrityMasterChef returns to BBC One & @bbciplayer with a double bill from 8:30pm tonight.
‘The first episode includes a challenge inspired by Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, and was filmed before last week’s sad news. #MasterChefUK.’

The first of the final episodes will air on Friday September 16 at 9pm, and will see the finalists show off their culinary skills for 12 iconic BBC names at Alexandra Palace.
Finals week continues on Tuesday September 20 at 8pm, before the grand finale on Thursday September 22 at 8.30pm, where the final three will be challenged to cook and present a faultless three-course meal in two hours.
Celebrity MasterChef next airs tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
