Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Dwain Chambers were forced to reflect on some brutal truths in the latest episode, as he spoke about his two-year ban after taking performance-enhancing drugs.

The sprinter received a two-year athletics ban in 2003 after testing positive for THG and was stripped of the 100m European title and record he achieved in 2002.

Speaking about the ban, Dwain said on the show: ‘I lost a huge portion of my career over what i did. I made a decision to take performance enhancers.’

Asked how it impacted him, the sportsman admitted: ‘My whole world fell apart.

‘I didn’t deal with it, i just kept on hiding from it, drinking and doing crap and not facing the reality of what I’d done.’

He added that he wanted to take part in SAS: Who Dares Wins to challenge himself and that, ‘regardless of how I perform, I want to get to the end’.

Elsewhere in the episode, Dwain recalled hearing from a young boy who had ripped down a poster of him when he found out about his ban.

Earlier on in the series, Dwain sustained a chest injury, but was still part of the winning team in the first challenge in Sunday’s episode, which saw the two teams have to push a one-tonne broken-down Jeep through thick sand in searing heat.

However, when it came to running back to base, he struggled.

But he redeemed himself later in the episode, passing a challenge that saw the recruits balancing on a tightrope above a ravine.

Amber Gill and Pete Wicks have already been forced to exit the gruelling reality show.

While Pete suffered an injury during a challenge in the water, Amber left the show after failing to complete a physical challenge on the beach.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues at the weekend on Channel 4, with the likes of Olympian Fatima Whitbread, and ex-footballer Ashley Cain still in the competition.

Along with a host of other famous faces, they are all vying to impress ex-US Marine Rudy Reyes in a bid to pass the challenges of the show.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues Sunday at 9pm on Channel 4.
