Married At First Sight UK star Gemma has shared her regret over marrying groom Matt, saying she ‘wishes’ the pair had never met.
Gemma and the barber shop owner initially bonded over a mutual love of tattoos before hitting several rocky patches on the day of their wedding and honeymoon on the hit social experiment programme.
Reflecting on her time on the E4 show on Instagram, Gemma opened up about walking down the aisle with the 32-year-old.
The salon owner said it was clear that Matt didn’t fancy her or want to be with her, claiming they both had different motivations for signing up to MAFS UK.
Gemma said she ‘went for marriage and not a TV show’, while claiming Matt asked her to ‘strategise’ in order to maximise the exposure from the show to earn money and become famous.
She continued: ‘I have no ill-feeling towards…. Oh I do, I do.’
Revealing she had ‘so many hopes’ about the marriage, Gemma said their big day had been delayed by a week as Matt contracted Covid-19.

She added: ‘I wish I’d never met him. I wish I’d never had that wedding rescheduled.’
Gemma also claimed she was ‘manipulated’ and ‘made to feel not good enough’ during her time on the hit programme.

Matt declined to comment on Gemma’s post when contacted by Metro.co.uk.
The barber has previously spoken about the editing on MAFS UK on social media, adding he had ‘no intention for anybody to end up upset.’
He said as per Heatworld: ‘I’ve not been watching the episodes. I don’t really need to, I was there and I also get enough feedback from you guys – which I appreciate, by the way. I do. Obviously, starting this process, I didn’t want anyone to get hurt. There was no intention for anybody to end up upset. It’s just not me as a person.

‘I do think that the edits are adding longer pauses to things and making things seem very very dramatic, but that’s TV. It’s a TV show at the end of the day, guys. It is there for your entertainment.’
On the subject of editing, a Channel 4 spokesperson previously told Metro.co.uk: ‘Married at First Sight UK episodes are carefully put together so that, while we cannot show every moment of scenes that can take hours to film, we ensure that what we do broadcast is a fair and accurate reflection of the events that unfolded.’
MAFS UK airs Monday – Thursday at 9pm on E4
