Jeremy Clarkson has boldly claimed that the government should abolish the NHS.

The Grand Tour presenter, 62, reflected on the current cost of living crisis which has left many households struggling, with the average spend for bills now standing at £3,549 a year.

Jeremy couldn’t help but brand our current economic system ‘un-understandable and completely un-unreliable,’ in his latest column.

‘Even if the government taxed the country’s top 20 billionaires 100 per cent of every single thing they own, it’d still only get £266 billion,’ he wrote.

‘And it’d waste it on something stupid. And it’d only get it once,’ he added to the Sunday Times.

Turning his attention to the NHS, he continued: ‘Many people are now saying that we should rid the country of the monarchy because this ancient institution is no longer relevant.

‘I respect that point of view, and I hope they respect mine when I suggest the department that has to go is the NHS.’

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host also explained that throughout his TV career he has learned that making ‘cuts’ to a story has been an essential element.

Jeremy is no stranger to being outspoken in his columns, having previously called out Boris Johnson for ‘tolerating arseishness’ and expressing concern for the ‘worryingly dead’ capital, London.

However, the writer recently treated fans to some good news as he confirmed that season two of Clarkson’s Farm wrapped up filming last month, but stressed that the ‘long process of editing begins.’

Jeremy’s co-star and sidekick Kaleb Cooper confirmed that filming for new episodes of the hit show was ‘well underway’ at the end of last year after its renewal was announced in July.

Jeremy bought the land on which the 1,000 acre Diddly Squat Farm resides in 2008 and has chronicled his agricultural adventures on the show.
