Eddie Hearn Feels a “Drowning” Deontay Wilder “Gets Spanked” by Tyson Fury in the Trilogy

Deontay Wilder has claimed that he will overpower Tyson Fury in a possible trilogy matchup, but Eddie Hearn envisioned a similar outcome to the re-match that saw Wilder lose his WBC crown to ‘The Gypsy King’.

The WBC title has already seen some severe drama and without Wilder’s intervention, Fury will now defend his belt against Anthony Joshua. However, former champion Deontay Wilder is still due his trilogy fight. While many fans might favor Wilder over Joshua to step up against Fury, Eddie Hearn revealed why it isn’t a good idea to overlook the undisputed bout.

The Matchroom Kingpin connected with Boxing Social and said, “I mean Deontay Wilder is still drowning and moaning. Bob Arum has shown everybody that it’s not going to be an issue in the fight. Tyson Fury signed the fight contract. We are finalizing the fight.”

He added, “He (Wilder) don’t want to fight Tyson Fury, anyway. He gets spanked. So, he is probably looking for a cheap few quid. That’s all.”

Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have coordinated to arrange the biggest heavyweight battle of the era. The all-British clash will see unified champion Anthony Joshua and WBC champion Tyson Fury put their titles on the line against each other. Although the official fight date and venue are still not public, the promoters have vowed to announce them soon.

Hence, there’s no ducking each other now. Fans are likely to receive the fight by the end of August. But the heavyweight title picture still has Deontay Wilder‘s relevancy.

What’s next for Deontay Wilder?

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has mostly remained away from the spotlight since suffering the sole career loss against Tyson Fury. He accused Fury of cheating in the fight. Moreover, Wilder fired his own cornerman Mark Breland and labeled him as a double agent. But all these statements weren’t well-received by the boxing family, as most of the fans and analysts lashed out at him.

A few months back, media reports claimed ‘The Bronze Bomber’ would return in a non-title fight against Charles Martin. However, there is still no official confirmation of it.

As the heavyweight division continues to see new elites emerge, Wilder will have to rust off his inactivity. Or else he might lose his right to claim the title shot.
