WWE trio Gallus have been ‘suspended indefinitely’ after being arrested live on air in storyline scenes airing on NXT this week.

The three Scottish stars – brothers Mark and Joe Coffey and their longtime ally Wolfgang – attacked security guards throughout the night and continued their rampage after losing to Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen in a Pub Rules match.

They also laid out officials trying to restrain them following the loss, which led to them being escorted out of the arena by police.

In a statement continuing the storyline, WWE said: ‘Due to Gallus’ actions involving the assault of WWE officials and security after their Pub Rules Tag Team Match, Wolfgang, Mark & Joe Coffey have been suspended indefinitely, effective immediately.’

The dramatic development came after the two teams met in an exciting and wild main event, with weapons and brawling the order of the day as they met in a grudge match.

The show ended with them being escorted out, and now it remains unclear what NXT is planning for the trio.

It could simply be a way to give them time off after moving to the US amid the closure of NXT UK, which is set to be relaunched as NXT Europe some time in 2023.

They are joined on the NXT roster in Orlando, Florida by a number of fellow alumni from the UK-based brand, including Tyler Bate, J.D. McDonagh, Alba Fyre, Ilja Dragunov, and Pretty Deadly duo Elton Prince and Kit Wilson.

Ilja is set for one of his biggest matches to date, as the former United Kingdom Champion will battle McDonagh and Bron Breakker for the latter’s NXT Title at Halloween Havoc on October 22.

Also set for the show is a Ladder Match for the vacant NXT North American Title, which was stripped from Solo Sikoa after just one week because NXT boss Shawn Michaels deemed his match and subsequent win over Carmelo Hayes as unsanctioned.

Now, Hayes finds himself with a chance to win back the gold, with two spots left to be filled after Oro Mensah and Wes Lee won their qualification matches.

WWE NXT airs Tuesday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
