It’s not a walk in the (Jurassic) park.

Chris Pratt knows his way around a high-octane, heart-pumping stunt scene – just ask Jurassic World Dominion stuntman, David Grant.

Grant – who chatted with Metro.co.uk from Malta to mark the film’s anticipated extended release, which features 14 minutes of extra footage, including an alternate opening – has got quite the Hollywood CV, working on franchises including James Bond, Game Of Thrones and Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy.

It’s in the third – and final – offering, directed by Colin Trevorrow, he saw Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard be put through their paces as they were chased throughout the real world in a series of hair-raising raptor chases and weaving through historic streets and locales with hungry T-Rex on their tail.

According to the stuntman, the stars threw themselves into the pearl-clutching action work, which Howard (who plays Claire Dearing) previously attested to.

Speaking about working with both Pratt (who plays Owen Grady) as well as acting as a double for star Scott Hayes, Grant tells us the whole cast made light work of the hardier scenes.

He says: ‘They’ve got some great stunt doubles, but sometimes they’re not really needed in that area.’

Suppose Pratt, of Guardians’ Starlord fame, of course, has been in the stunt game for quite some time.

Grant adds: ‘It’s only really when it comes to the vehicle stuff that [stunt double] Alister Whitton stepped in and did some of the motorbike stuff and Chris left him to more of that. But they’re all very capable and all very keen as well, which is nice. It’s the best thing you can ask for, from a stunt perspective, if they’re keen.’

The stuntman went on to wax lyrical on Pratt’s prowess in the action realm, praising the cast of Dominion for their ability to not only ace the moves, but do it while still remembering their dialogue. And looking remarkably cool at the same time.

It really is no walk in the (Jurassic) Park (ah thank you).

He muses: ‘Chris is amazing. I mean, he’s done a hell of a lot of work. I’ve worked with him on other pictures before, so you know, it is a talent to remember all of the choreography.

‘For us, we can just remember the choreography and then we can forget about it, but they have to deliver their dialogue, they have to be thinking, attention to all of the other stuff. Scott Haze was really good, really got into the part, was really intense, really gave it his all in every single training session. It’s a joy when there is a commitment like that to the job. It makes our job easy.’

But you want to know about the rough and tumble injuries that come from racing away from T-Rex or dodging raptors on Malta rooftops, don’t you?

Sorry to say, we’re working with pros here.

‘Maybe little bumps and bruises,’ Grant says with a grin. ‘There may be little things if you’re doing a fight sequence, and you’re doing it for days, you are making contact, and it is a physical thing.’

He adds: ‘We put a lot of padding and protection on the guys, so you sort of minimise everything, to make sure that they’re looked after.

‘Because at the end of the day, we keep going, and you’re looking after them to carry on and keep going to work the next day and not be worried about any injuries. We look after them – maybe little bruises here and there, but nothing more than that.’
