James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has opened up about the ‘distressing’ meeting she had with Amy Winehouse in 2008.

Broccoli had met with Winehouse to discuss the singer writing the theme song for Quantum of Solace but found that the meeting made her feel ‘sad’ for the star.

She explained to Entertainment Weekly: ‘Well, that was a very, very distressing meeting. She was not at her best and my heart really went out to her.

‘She was very fragile emotionally, and you know, you understood how she could create such moving material, because she has a great depth of feeling and it was very, very tragic.’

The producer added: ‘What an incredible talent, what an incredible voice, what an incredible person she was. And it was very, very sad.’

The song for the movie ended up being Another Way To Die, which was recorded by Jack White and Alicia Keys.

Winehouse died in July 2011 from alcohol overdose with her post-mortem finding she was five times over the legal drink-drive limit.

The latest Bond theme for No Time To Die was recorded by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas which won an Oscar, as did past offerings from Adele on Skyfall and Sam Smith’s Spectre song Writing’s On The Wall.

Broccoli admitted that the Oscar nods for the recent Bond theme songs has been pleasing for the production, adding: ‘It’s really pleasing to us. It was so great when Adele won, and then Sam Smith, and then Billie and Finneas, so we couldn’t be more pleased really.

‘It’s been a fantastic time at the Oscars for our music.’

No Time To Die was Daniel Craig’s fan outing as 007 and his successor has yet to be decided, with Broccoli previously revealing that no casting would take place until his final film had aired.
