AJ Odudu is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ to front the highly-anticipated Big Brother revival next year.

In August this year, it was finally made official that the reality show was making a massive comeback in 2023 with a ‘brand new look’ on ITV2, after coming off the air on Channel 5 in 2018.

Since the news, there’s been a constant torrent of speculation regarding who will front the programme, with people including Maura Higgins, Davina McCall, Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark mentioned among fans as possible contenders.

Emma Willis recently ruled herself out from presenting the upcoming series of Big Brother, having presented the show for five years.

And now, the former Strictly Come Dancing star is rumoured to present the reboot.

‘AJ has had advanced talks with producers about the new series. The meetings have gone really well and it’s looking promising,’ a source shared.

‘ITV are considering a few different stars, but at the moment AJ is considered the frontrunner,’ the insider added to Daily Star.

An ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘All suggestions surrounding the host are pure speculation and absolutely no decisions have been made at this early stage.’

While fans are currently counting down the days until the reality show hits our screens, the long-awaited return was recently branded ‘depressing’ by a boss at Channel 4.

While speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Ian Katz – chief content officer at Channel 4 – described Big Brother as a ‘wonderful show’ which did ‘wonderful things’.

However, he then questioned the decision for an old TV show to be rehashed, saying: ‘I’m sure it will bring an audience to ITV but I do think there is something depressing about this microwave moment of TV of shows being reheated.’

He added: ‘If Channel 4 is about anything it is about finding that new dish.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to AJ Odudu’s reps for comment.

Big Brother airs next year on ITV2.
