Joe Wicks was incredibly touched to learn that he had inadvertently saved a woman’s life as she battled anorexia in lockdown.

The fitness guru, who launched his online PE classes at the start of the coronavirus pandemic last year, shared a heartfelt email he’d received from mum-of-three Tamsyn who was battling an eating disorder as the country went into lockdown.

‘Anorexic to fitness a year on…,’ she titled the email.

Alongside a before and after of Tamsyn to show the results of Joe’s fitness regime, she explained: ‘A year on a crazy journey that started with P.E with joe. Your an inspiration and such an amazing life coach.

‘No matter what your goal or your fitness or dietary need I believe you can speak out to so much and have done.’

Tamsyn explained that she ‘never needed to lose weight’ and continued: ‘A year ago I made myself sick after almost every meal I was lost & only months prior to lock down tried to end it.

‘I would have left 3 small children!

‘Then I tried your work outs followed you on social media and actually wow the difference you have made to my life is unreal it’s actually immense. I’m in the best shape ever I eat I train I work out but more so I’m ok with me! This is something I could never have done without your sessions.

‘Like I said you always get the loosing weight photos but I want to show you something different I want to show how you have changed the mindset of a bulimic anorexic obsessed mummy & created a positive woman who now wants to share her story.’

Tamsyn revealed that she’s become a ‘better mum’ and experienced a ‘heartbreaking point’ the day she sat and ate with her children.

‘To anyone else this is simple but to a person with an eating disorder this is new, different and scary,’ she said.

‘Mental health is such an issue and this pandemic has just emphasised how cruel it is. Thank you for giving me the power to changed and re build a life long habit that was toxic and destroying to create the image below!

‘Thank you joe & I will endeavour to carry this message on. If I can help one person out there change their thought process I know I have succeeded.’

She admitted that she never thought PE With Joe could ‘save [her] from an illness that was over 20 years in the making’.

‘I may not be your average success story but you really did give me the kick up the bum I needed,’ she concluded.

Thanking Tamsyn for sharing her ordeal, Joe said: ‘We both hope this could help someone out there who may be struggling.’

In March, Joe celebrated a milestone after reaching 100 sessions of PE With Joe in a year.
