When Gangs of London debuted it broke records for having the highest body count and being the most violent show on British TV.
The first season of the Sky Atlantic drama followed the collapse of underground criminal organisation and family empire the Wallace Group, with new gangsters The Investors taking charge of London.
As Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) sought to avenge his father Finn’s (Colm Meaney), there were co-ordinated violent attacks on a traveller’s settlement and a safe house in the coutryside, to name but a few.
To say Gangs of London, created by The Raid’s Gareth Evans, is a blood bath is to put it mildly.
Ahead of season 2, promised to be ‘violence on steriods’ by Marian Wallace actor Michelle Fairley, Metro.co.uk caught up with Orli Shuka and Lucian Msamati, who play Albanian mafia boss Luan and Ed Dumani respectively.
When asked about if any accidents happened on set, Orli replied: ‘I’m a guy who can throw myself [into the action sequences] 100% and I don’t mind about my body and what’s gonna happen.
‘But sometimes I see the faces of my colleagues and they’re like, “Orli, slow down, slow down.” And the next day my body was covered with bruises.”

Lucian added: ‘Later on, there’s another quite massive action sequence; just know that this man literally suffered for his art. He broke a rib and carried on because we had four days.’
Orli said that while he was wearing protective clothing, as the show has very strict safety procedures, he was accidentally kicked, causing the painful injury.

The actor added: ‘But that’s the beauty of it and that’s our trophy: we’ve been there and we’re going to watch it again and again and again.’
Lucian joked: ‘[The viewers] won’t know the true pain of those four days. But it’s going to look great.’

While Orli sustained an injury during filming Gangs of London 2, his co-star Waleed Zuaiter, who plays Koba, confessed he was unable to watch the first instalment.
The actor told Metro.co.uk: ‘There were scenes in the first season where I was doing this [puts hands over his eyes] and I was telling my wife, “Tell me when it’s over, tell me when it’s over, tell me when it’s over,” because it was really visceral and it was so real.’
Gangs of London season 2 premieres on Thursday October, 20 on Sky Atlantic and Now.
