From the start of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law right up until the finale, the Marvel series continually pushed the boat with experimental, bold and brilliantly inventive story arcs.

However, one bonkers scene concept that didn’t make the cut could have featured a tie-in with Ant-Man… and just the thought of it has us chuckling.

Following the final episode of the show on Disney Plus, Metro.co.uk caught up with head writer and executive producer Jessica Gao, who addressed the fact that when making an MCU project, numerous ideas are bound to end up on the cutting room floor.

When asked if there were any ideas that she was particularly fond of that never saw the light of day, the Rick and Morty writer recalled when the writing team were trying to think of different legal cases for each week.

‘There was one very stupid idea that we had when we were still trying to think of cases, you know, case of the weeks and things like that,’ she said, before referencing Pug (Josh Segarra), who works with Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) at the law firm GLK&H.

‘We had this running joke where every time She-Hulk walked past Pug’s office, that he was in a meeting with the giant ants from Ant Man and he was arranging for witness protection for these ants because they had witnessed a crime.’

Despite the obvious genius of this idea, Jessica revealed that one of the production’s writers was absolutely not on board.

‘One of our writers, Zeb Wells, lost his mind over that and started yelling at us and saying, “These ants don’t understand what witness protection is!” And then we scrapped that idea as being way too silly,’ Jessica recollected.

Reflecting on the holes in the proposed storyline, the TV writer pointed out that it would have been difficult for the giant ants to adopt new identities – plus they could ‘just turn back into tiny ants and nobody would ever find them again’.

Nonetheless, more Pug on our screens combined with the giant ants from Ant-Man would have been an utter delight to watch.

Speaking on the whole about the many ideas that were put forward in the writers’ room, Jessica said that ‘there was a lot of stuff that had to be altered’.

‘I think everybody knows that’s kind of Marvel’s process – things are always changing. It’s always a living, breathing thing that can change completely from day to day,’ she said.

‘So there’s a ton of changes, and a lot of stuff was cut, but at its core foundationally in its DNA this was the show that I pitched.’

Jessica outlined how ‘thematically’ She-Hulk remained the same from the start (Picture: Jon Kopaloff/WireImage)

The producer emphasised that ‘thematically, the show has always stayed the same’.

‘The characters and who they are and the struggles that they go through were always the same. It’s more just, you know, the details and what happens in every episode has changed throughout the process. But what the show is has always remained,’ she said.

She-Hulk is available to watch on Disney Plus.
