Kym Marsh has admitted it’s been tricky for her juggling two jobs while doing Strictly Come Dancing, considering she’s competing on the show while also balancing filming commitments.

Tonight, Kym and her professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima are set to perform the Quickstep to Ballroom Blitz by Sweet (Come Dancing), as part of the BBC’s centenary celebrations.

Last week, the couple survived the dance off, with singer Matt Goss and his pro partner Nadiya Bychkova being sent home.

While Kym has a lot on her plate with her Strictly training, the 46-year-old also has to juggle two separate filming commitments – her part in Waterloo Road, and her role as a presenter on BBC One’s Morning Live, which she co-hosts with Gethin Jones.

‘It’s quite tricky. We train as much as we can. We put in as many hours as we can,’ the former Hear’Say singer said.

‘There are some days when it becomes impossible when my schedule at Waterloo Road becomes too manic like we lost Tuesday [this] week.’

She explained that she was ‘in every single scene, all day at Waterloo Road’, which made things ‘difficult’.

‘It is difficult. I have two other jobs and I have a family. They have to be priority as well,’ she said.

Reflecting on being in the bottom two last week when she was saved by the judges, Kym said: ‘Someone has to go each week. I wasn’t like oh my goodness this is me and it doesn’t feel nice and it’s not a comfortable feeling.

‘You are dancing off against someone who you like, [and you realise] it’s actually a competition and it’s uncomfortable.’

She added that she received a text from her 11-year-old on Friday morning, which read: ‘Good luck mum, I love you.’

‘And those things are the things that really matter to me and those are the things that push me forward,’ she said.

Graziano dubbed Kym a ‘10 out of 10’, revealing that he calls her his ‘warrior’.

‘I don’t know how she puts together things but she works in the morning, maybe until one, and we rehearse [to] eight, nine in the evening,’ he explained.

Kym shared that she turned down the chance to have space to train for Strictly on set at Waterloo Road, because she gets ‘so sweaty’ while dancing that she would need a make-up touch-up.

Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight at 6.40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
