Gap has announced it will pulls Kanye West’s Yeezy line from its stores with immediate effect amid the rapper’s anti-semitism controversy.

West, 45, is facing repercussions after making offensive comments about the Jewish community in a series of social media posts.

The Grammy-winning rapper initially doubled down on his stance, after saying he was going to go ‘death con 3 on Jewish people’, before later apologising for causing upset.

On Tuesday, Adidas announced it was ending its 10-year partnership with the musician and now Gap has made a similar move.

The high street fashion brand said in a statement: ‘Antisemitism, racism and hate in any form are inexcusable and not tolerated in accordance with our values.

‘Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.’

The spokesperson added: ‘Our former partner’s recent remarks and behaviour further underscore why we are taking immediate steps to remove Yeezy Gap product from our stores.’

West and Gap’s collaborative line Yeezy Gap is now being pulled from stores, and the website YeezyGap.com has been taken down.

This comes after Adidas cut ties with the Gold Digger rapper, who has also caused offence to the Black community after wearing a White Lives Matter shirt and branding Black Lives Matter a ‘scam’.

The German sportswear brand said in a statement: ‘Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.

‘After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.

‘This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to €250 million (£217m) on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.

‘Adidas is the sole owner of all design rights to existing products as well as previous and new colorways under the partnership. More information will be given as part of the company’s upcoming Q3 earnings announcement on November 9, 2022.’

With the Adidas deal over, Forbes has reported that West is no longer a billionaire and is now worth an estimated $400million.

During a recent interview with Piers Morgan, West offered an apology saying: ‘I will say, I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the Defcon… the confusion that I caused.

‘I feel like I caused hurt and confusion and I’m sorry for the families that had nothing to do with the trauma that I had been through.

‘Hurt people hurt people – and I was hurt.’
