The cast of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 has been revealed in their official portraits, and we couldn’t be more excited for the show to finally get going again in Australia.

While the cast have donned their usual green khaki shirts and bright red trousers for the jungle, Boy George immediately stands out from the crowd in the shots thanks to his unique spotted jacket and crown-shaped hat.

Some may be wondering why the Culture Club musician was allowed to customise his ensemble, as the stars in the line-up prepare to do away with their usual everyday luxuries in favour of the camp.

However, a show source confirmed to Metro.co.uk that there’s a very simple reason why the singer – whose real name is George Alan O’Dowd – sticks out like a sore thumb.

Apparently, it just came down to Boy George asking if he could customise his shirt for the photoshoot, with ITV immediately granting permission.

If you don’t ask, you don’t get!

In addition to his spotted top, Boy George is also boasting a hat cut into the shape of a crown – perhaps a sign of how well he thinks he’ll do in the competition.

He did dub himself the ‘Lion King’, after all…

In his promo shot, the 61-year-old can be seen also with his signature eye makeup intact, with a sultry red smokey eye to match his trousers.

As I’m A Celeb fans will know, the contestants aren’t typically permitted their usual array of cosmetic items, with only a few luxury objects allowed in the camp.

So we’d expect Boy George could go make-up free when the series begins, the same as the other celebrities who were also dolled up for their official portraits.

Given the 80s icon requested permission to customise his jungle attire for the photoshoot, it’s unclear if he’ll still wear his bold version of the camp outfit while roughing it up in the camp – but that will be his choice.

We’ll just have to wait and see!

After Boy George was spotted arriving at the airport in Brisbane wearing a lion mask, the singer expressed his hope that he’d be allowed the novelty headgear in the jungle.

He also told The Sun that he was ‘here to do a version of the Lion Queen’, while also remaining coy over whether he’d be willing to eat creepy crawlies in the Bushtucker Trials, having previously spoken about following a vegetarian diet.

I’m A Celebrity 2022 begins on Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
