Gogglebox star Amy Tapper says that trolls labelling her part of the ‘fat family’ when on the show was ‘quite upsetting’, but she hasn’t let them get her down as she continues to share details of her health kick.

From 2013 until 2018 Amy, alongside her parents Jonathan and Nikki and brother Josh, were couch critics on the reality television show.

Just 13 when she joined the series, Amy was never bullied about her weight until people on social media started making nasty comments about the teenager that used to leave her in tears.

‘It was quite upsetting. There were people on Twitter calling us ‘the fat family from Gogglebox’ but my mum and my brother have never had any problems with their weight’, she told the Daily Mail.

‘My dad and I would both get nasty comments about our weight and I’d also get people criticising my voice for being too loud,’ she added.

But she’s taken it all in her stride and has shaken off the criticism as she undergoes the health kick on her own terms, which has so far seen her drop three stone and four jean sizes.

‘Everyone seems to be interested in my weight loss and ask questions about it,’ she said.

‘Most of the time they mean well but there can be nasty comments as well. Luckily I have some amazing supportive people around me so I have been able to deal with it.

‘More recently it has come full circle with people on my social media sharing in my weight loss journey and sharing their goals and progress too. It’s an amazing feeling when they thank me for being their inspiration.’

Last week Amy shared a progress photo to show how far she’d come, and also said that she was in ‘the best mental and physical health I’ve ever been’.

After six months of training and overhauling her diet, Amy says she is ‘so proud of how far I’ve come’, but that she still has ‘a way to go’.

‘I’ve always dabbled in diets but for the first time I’ve had the right plan, with the right help, and support around me, and I’ve been able to take it to the next level,’ she wrote.

But she added that she still wanted to continue, and said that over the next six months she was going to ‘take every day as it comes and keep going how I am right now and see how far we can go’.

‘I’m so excited to keep going and also want to thank my amazing followers for being there along the journey cheering me on and joining in.’

Last year Amy started sharing her weight loss journey after trying ‘every diet under the sun’.

Meanwhile her brother Josh is hitting his own goals, recently announcing that he is throwing his hat in the ring to become an MP.
