“Always a Leader”: Serena Williams Lauds Husband Alexis Ohanian for His Philanthropic Work

Tennis superstar Serena Williams has been married since 2017 to American internet entrepreneur and investor Alexis Ohanian. When they are seen together, the two come across as a ‘power couple,’ and in each of their respective endeavors, the couple is highly supportive of each other.

Recently, Serena Williams was made proud by her husband’s recent involvement in social causes. Ohanian was glad to be an investor in Coinbase, which is a cryptocurrency platform. He was happy to receive a positive response to his investment of $1 million in the ‘Know Your Rights Camp’. This is an organization started by Colin Kaepernick, a former American football player, and newly turned activist.

Ohanian was happy with the work done by this organization, which convinced him to make a contribution to the venture. In doing so, he earned a great margin of profit this week. Serena was happy with his sense of investing and his sharp skills as a venture capitalist. She tweeted, “So proud of you and this. You’re always a leader, innovator, and the best VC.”

Moving onto tennis, Serena began her season at the exhibition event, ‘A Day at the Drive,’ in Adelaide. During the event, she beat Japanese star Naomi Osaka. Later, she competed at the Yarra Valley Classic in Melbourne, but she had to pull out of the event before her semifinal match due to a shoulder injury.

Serena has not played since the Australian Open 2021

After the Yarra Valley Classic, Serena was seen at the Australian Open. However, she faired below her expectations after losing in the semifinal. As a result, she was unable to lift her much-awaited 24th Grand Slam title. Williams was later scheduled to play the Miami Open but pulled out due to oral surgery.

Now that the focus has shifted towards the clay-court events, it will be interesting to see how the American legend performs. She is keen to compete at the WTA Rome Open later in May.
