Lorraine Kelly has weighed in on the annual debate over whether or not the Bounty should be celebrated or slated, expressing her fury over the chocolate bar being axed from some Celebrations boxes for a trial release.

Every year when Christmas comes around, fiery arguments over the coconut-based chocolate bar are sparked across the nation.

While some hate Bounty with an absolute passion, others are staunch defenders of the bar… and Lorraine is definitely in the latter camp.

On Thursday’s edition of her ITV programme, the presenter addressed the news that Mars is launching a special trial edition of Celebrations tubs, that will be completely free of any hint of the divisive Bounty.

Dubbing it ‘very disturbing news’, the TV personality said: ‘It’s been revealed that Bounty bars are to be removed from tubs of Celebrations this Christmas’.

‘I am not amused,’ she revealed to her audience. ‘I am a huge fan of Bounty bars and I draw the line.’

She continued, sharing that ‘apparently four in 10 consumers want Bounty bars banished’.

Expressing her horror, she added: ‘What is wrong with you?! They are the best, best things ever! And have you tried Bounty ice cream? It’s fantastic.’

Holding up a Bounty bar in its wrapper, Lorraine stated: ‘This is my go-to choice of sweetie, ‘cause I think there’s coconut in it, so it must be really good for you.’

‘Honestly, really,’ she added. ‘I mean I would just eat the whole Bountys anyway. I’d better not start because I won’t be able to stop.’

While some Lorraine viewers agreed with her that it was a travesty for the Bounty to be banned from the box.

‘Why are they getting rid of the bounty from the Celebration tubs?’ one person asked, suggesting that Snickers should be removed instead.

‘We need a campaign to bring them back or at least a limited edition bounty only box. Please help @reallorraine you have the power,’ another pleaded.

The Celebrations boxes void of the Bounty won’t be available to buy in every supermarket, as the No Bounty tubs will be on sale from select Tesco Christmas Market pop-ups between November 8 and December 18.

Customers in select stores will be able to exchange tubs of Celebrations bought in-store that day with a No Bounty version, so Mars can figure out if the Bounty is as hated as it appears.

A survey found that 39% of Brits would support having Bounty bars scrapped from the collection completely… so do you agree?

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
