Demi Lovato found a way to unwind after a stressful week by joining in with the 4/20 celebrations.

The Sorry Not Sorry singer has been at the centre of controversy after publicly calling out a frozen yoghurt shop over their in-store diet messaging, before being accused of ‘bullying’ by Piers Morgan

However by Tuesday, Demi was brushing off the drama and kicking back to mark the annual marijuana holiday 4/20 – weed is legal in the state of California where the singer lives.

In her Instagram stories, the 28-year-old shared a photo of her sitting in a hammock and lighting up a bowl of marijuana with her song California Sober playing.

‘Happy 4/20,’ Demi captioned the photo with a funky gif.

Demi – who has fought drug addiction – recently declared herself California Sober, which means abstaining from all drugs with the exception of marijuana and alcohol. However, the lifestyle choice is a controversial one as some argue that it defeats the idea of sobriety.

Over the weekend, the Heart Attack singer caused a stir when she criticised fro-yo store The Bigg Chill for their ‘tons of diet foods’. She had visited the shop over the weekend but left without buying anything, feeling their messaging was triggering for her eating disorders.

‘Finding it extremely hard to order froyo from [The Bigg Chill] when you have to walk past tons of sugar-free cookies/other diet foods before you get to the counter,’ she wrote in an Instagram post, adding: ‘Do better please.’

‘So, I think I’m gonna have to make that hashtag a thing. I will be calling harmful messaging from brands or companies that perpetuate a society that not only enables but praises disordered eating,’ she later told her followers.

Former Good Morning Britain host Piers branded Demi a ‘repulsively arrogant woman’ for ‘attacking’ the store.

The musician later issued an apology for her own messaging coming out ‘wrong’, but denied she was ‘bullying’ the business

Demi has since been defended by The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil and This Morning presenter Philip Schofield.
