Warning: spoilers ahead for Drag Race UK season 4 episode 8.

With just a few weeks to go until the Drag Race UK season 4 final, fans are on the edges of their seats waiting to discover which queen will be crowned the UK’s Next Drag Superstar.

Tonight’s episode saw the final five take part in a reality TV acting challenge, as they took on eccentric roles in a competition called The Squirrel Games, inspired by a twisted combination of Big Brother and Squid Game with a murder mystery to boot.

With only Black Peppa, Pixie Polite, Cheddar Gorgeous, Jonbers Blonde and Danny Beard left in the running, viewers may not have been expecting the jaw-dropping twist that went down when it came to the elimination.

Despite wowing on the runway with their incredible ruffled looks, Jonbers Blonde and Black Peppa wound up in tonight’s bottom two.

After lip syncing for their lives, RuPaul announced that Black Peppa was safe to slay another day… before revealing that Jonbers Blonde was also not going home. We have a double shantay people!

So, all five queens will be proceeding to next week’s episode, which is the semi-final of the series.

Black Peppa blew the judges away with their denim Ruff and Ready runway look, with RuPaul saying the ‘extraordinary’ ensemble would ‘go down in Drag Race history’.

‘It’s Moschino meets Gautier. It’s fabulous. My eyes don’t know where to rest,’ she said, before adding of the queen’s acting performance in the challenge: ‘Unfortunately, that wasn’t in your character [performance]. You didn’t have the peaks and valleys but it’s all present in that outfit you’re wearing.’

Ru also declared that Jonbers Blonde’s look was one of the best she’d ever seen on the runway throughout the show, while fellow judge Michelle Visage sympathised with Jonbers having to balance playing a character in the challenge while also dealing with a fake puppet dog at the same time.

The panel were left in awe of the glam Danny Beard oozed on the main stage, with Michelle commending it for being a ‘beautiful’ creation from head to toe.

‘We don’t get to see it very often and don’t think you do it very often but you still keep Danny Beard in there,’ she said.

Cheddar Gorgeous’ standout outfit paid homage to The Pansy Project, an organisation that plants pansies at the sites of homophobic and transphobic attacks.

Extra special guest judge Lorraine Pascale said that it reminded her of when she used to model, saying: ‘I would wear this kind of silhouette. It’s stunning, it’s ethereal.’

Pixie Polite donned a Queen Elizabeth I-inspired get-up, with Michelle pointing out that the Elizabethan monarch has been recreated many times on the series, ‘so you have to go overboard and do obnoxious ruffles on a ruffle runway’.

Nonetheless, she added that she’s noticed Pixie’s progression throughout the competition, including with the refinement of her make-up skills.

So with five queens still left in season four, who’s your pick to take the crown? Have your say!

Drag Race UK returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
