Lead Analyst Tips Carson Wentz as the Player to ‘Keep an Eye On’ This Year

2020 was not a great year for Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles. After his individual heroics in 2019, coach Doug Pederson expected his star quarterback to return with vengeance on his mind last year. However, things did not go as per plan.

The former North Dakota State man threw for 2,620 yards with 16 passing TDs against 15 interceptions. He also fell out with former Eagles coach Doug Pederson who was benched in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts for the final two games of the regular season.

Wentz was traded to the Indianapolis Colts earlier this year. He will reunite with former Philly quarterback coach Frank Reich in Indiana.

Carson Wentz tipped for a comeback season with Indianapolis Colts

One particular analyst who is expecting great things from Carson is GMFB’s Peter Schrager. When asked about who he thinks the most motivated player in the league this season will be, Schrager had an immediate response.

“I think it’s Carson Wentz….he was the number two overall pick. He was the future and the hope of the Philadelphia Eagles. That thing didn’t work out last year and it didn’t work out in such a fashion that I think we look back on Carson Wentz with almost a giant negative stain on what he’s been in the league and that’s not fair.”

“Now he’s been given this amazing thing that so few quarterbacks are given – an opportunity to reclaim his career and reclaim his place in the league and he does it with Frank Reich who was his offensive coordinator when he had his best season….Carson Wentz has to prove a lot of doubters wrong. He doesn’t stand up for himself in the media. But I don’t think a lot of other quarterbacks would have taken the way he was spoken about publicly by everyone on TV for close to a season,” Schrager said on the show.

During his 5-year stay in Philadelphia, Wentz has a 35-32-1 record as a starter. He threw for 16,811 yards with 113 passing TDs. Wentz enjoyed a couple of fine years under the tutelage of Frank Reich in the past.

He will look to replicate the same with the Colts. Will the Eagles regret letting their franchise quarterback depart prematurely? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
