Kobe Bryant is one of the most iconic figures in NBA history, and many players in the NBA today grew up watching and idolizing him. Quite a few of them got the chance to play with or against Kobe. Now, people love showing their respect for the legend by wearing his shoes to the game. But with the relationship between Nike and Kobe Bryant now coming to an end, one Lakers star is desperate to get his hands on a pair of Kobe’s Nike shoes.

THT wants a pair of Kobes

Los Angeles Lakers star Talen Horton-Tucker made a desperate plea. After hearing the news that the Kobe Bryant – Nike partnership was coming to an end, Horton-Tucker asked if anyone could help him get a pair. He said that he needed the shoes, especially now that they won’t be available. THT’s desperation is understandable, as Kobe’s signature shoes are some of the favorites in the NBA.

Bryant and Nike will no longer be associated with each other. After the current deal expired, Nike and Kobe’s estate failed to come to terms regarding a new agreement. Both sides have remained amicable after the negotiations, but have maintained that an agreement could not be reached. Vanessa Bryant can expect to field several offers from shoe companies for a possible legacy endorsement deal.

Kobe Bryant and Nike: A fruitful relationship

Kobe signed with Nike in 2003. After signing with Adidas for the first seven years of his career, Bryant made the jump to Nike after his career blew up after winning three consecutive NBA titles. He and Nike forged a successful relationship, with the shoes being one of the hottest commodities. Furthermore, the commercials for Kobe Bryant’s shoes were iconic and had several celebrity endorsements.

After retiring in 2016 with an iconic 60-point performance, Kobe and Nike agreed to a five-year extension. This was the last deal the two parties would sign. The last shoe that Nike restocked for Kobe was the Kobe 6 Grinch. These shoes were restocked on April 13, 2021, to commemorate Bryant’s final game in the NBA when he dropped 60 points on the Utah Jazz.

Which shoe company will Kobe Bryant’s estate sign with? Perhaps one could see a renewed partnership involving Kobe and Adidas. Adidas is looking for a major legacy star, as their biggest names in the NBA include James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Derrick Rose.
