Quentin Tarantino recently turned his nose up at today’s movie pickings, declaring the current era the ‘worst in Hollywood history’.
Taking a walk back through the last few years’ releases, as well as the 1950s and 80s, the famous director revealed his distaste for the genres.
The Pulp Fiction creative debuted in the early 1990s and quickly became known for his unique, sinister takes on stories and gory, violent scenes.
Catapulting to fame following the release of the cult flick that starred John Travolta and Uma Thurman, the filmed was deemed his masterpiece and credited for its unconventional structure and screenwriting.
Quentin said: ‘Even though the ‘80s was the time that I probably saw more movies in my life than ever – at least as far as going out to the movies was concerned – I do feel that ‘80s cinema is, along with the ‘50s, the worst era in Hollywood history.

Despite his slating of the modern film industry, he did admit the calibre of production has offered an edge, saying on the The Video Archives Podcast which he hosts with Roger Avary: ‘The [films] that don’t conform, the ones that stand out from the pack.’
Top of his hit list in the past, the filmmaker previously fired shots at the Marvel franchise and explained his reasons for dismissing the idea of ever adding his names to their credits.
He told the Los Angeles Times: ‘You have to be a hired hand to do those things.

‘I’m not a hired hand. I’m not looking for a job.’
Continuing his tirade against the superhero genre, Quentin said in the past: ‘As far as I can see, the commercial product that is owned by the conglomerates, the projects everybody knows about and has in their DNA, whether it be the Marvel Comics, the Star Wars, Godzilla and James Bond, those films never had a better year than last year [2019].
‘It would have been the year that their world domination would have been complete. But it kind of wasn’t.’
Not isolated in his dislike of tights and capes, fellow directors Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott have also been known to criticise the modern Marvel creations in the past.
