Kevin Sinfield has left viewers and BBC Breakfast presenters Charlie Stayt and Rachel Burden in hysterics after stopping mid-run for a toilet break… on live TV.

The rugby league star was coming to the end of his epic ultramarathon challenge, and during the morning had been followed by BBC cameras filming him.

The 42-year-old is running a total of 300 miles by taking on seven ultra-marathons in just as many days.

As BBC Breakfast cut live to his journey on Saturday morning, Charlie began: ‘So one of the stories we are following for you this morning is Kevin Sinfield.

‘We have a camera on board a bike, it’s the first time we have done this, we have set him off every morning and we wave goodbye.

‘And we don’t really know how it works, apart from the fact that he…’

Charlie was abruptly cut off as Kevin slowed down and walked towards a wall and went to the toilet.

Charlie and Rachel were both left in hysterics, with Rachel saying: ‘That was brilliant timing! Well done Charlie, I give you full credit for that.

‘Now we know how it works!’

Charlie added: ‘Let’s do a bit of a countdown to when it’s ok to go back…’ while Rachel said: ‘In the meantime, let me read this message while Kev gives himself a bit of relief.’

‘I’m very childish clearly. Still laughing at Kevin Sinfield stopping for a pee just as the BBC cameras cut to him,’ one viewer wrote.

Another penned: ‘One of the best live TV moments there as BBC cut to Kevin Sinfield on his ultra marathon, as he runs off the road for a slash.’

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
