Olly Murs ignores misogynistic lyric drama by playfully signing new album for fan with cheeky messages-Lucy Norris-Entertainment – Metro

Olly Murs was spotted signing vinyl album covers following criticism over misogynistic lyrics that appeared in one of his latest tracks. 

The star’s new single I Hate You When You’re Drunk rubbed fans the wrong way after they called out the star for his ‘cruel’ and ‘misogynistic’ words used to detail a partner’s behaviour following a heavy night of drinking.

Despite backlash, the 38-year-old hitmaker was captured joking with supporters of the new Marry Me album during a cover signing by the singer. 

Sat in a chair with the camera filming him from above, the former X Factor contestant appeared relaxed and at ease in a lemon yellow and white jacket.

He gladly indulged one fan in a rather unique request and penned a message that put his upcoming marriage to fiancee Amelia Tank on the line. 

Sharpie at the ready, Olly began to scrawl the daring message from a supporter named Tracey.

He was asked to write: ‘To Tracey, my wedding’s off I want you instead, love Olly.’ 

The popstar recoiled in shock as the eager fan’s friend reeled off the suggestive message and gasped that he was so nervous he couldn’t spell the word ‘marriage’. 

Mission accomplished, the Dance With Me Tonight artist handed back the vinyl cover and exclaimed: ‘I’m sorry darling!’ in an attempt to smooth things over with his future wife.

He continued: ‘Cheeky Tracey! I can’t even spell, I’m shaking.’

The signing came after the star has yet to comment about the criticism he received on his latest lyrics that were deemed sexist and unfair. 

In the song he starts by singing: ‘Oh, you’re slurrin’ all your words, there’s make-up on my shirt / You’re dancin’ on the tables, can’t you see / That you look like a mess and you’re singin’ Whitney?’

The words continue with the star saying his ‘ears are bleeding’ at the repetition of drunken stories and he goes on to bellow ‘Oh, I hate you, hate you, I hate you, hate you when you’re drunk.’

Contradictory to the upbeat nature of the song, celebrities and members of the public alike were quick to dig for a deeper more sinister meaning with DJ Shaun Keaveny claiming the song portrayed the artist as a ‘controlling boyfriend’.
