Strictly Come Dancing’s Helen Skelton revealed her children didn’t know how to feel about her lively cabaret couples choice, which some fans have hailed as her ‘revenge’ dance.

During Friday’s [December 2] musicals special, the Countryfile presenter, 39, channelled her inner Liza Minnelli alongside professional partner Gorka Marquez.

The duo scored 39 points from the judges, with Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke all whacking out those 10 paddles, while Craig Revel Horwood gave them a nine.

Speaking to It Takes Two host Rylan Clark on Monday’s show, Helen explained that her theatric number had a mixed response from her family.

‘Well, my children said it was a bit weird for us and they were a little embarrassed but they were ok about it,’ she said.

‘My parents absolutely loved it, I mean my mum was in the front row, she was just going mad wasn’t she?’

The Blue Peter star also reflected on her Strictly journey and was pleased that her family have been there cheering her on.

Several viewers hailed Helen’s latest routine a ‘f**k you’ dance and compared her outfit to Princess Diana’s famous ‘revenge dress’, following her tough split from ex-husband ex Richie Myler – who is reportedly expecting a baby with his new girlfriend.

It was recently reported that the TV personality is taking ‘revenge’ on her ex by selling some possessions that they received as wedding presents.

During Monday’s episode of Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House, Helen sold an antique vaulting horse, which she and Richie received as a gift for their wedding day.

The couple were married in 2013, before separating earlier this year four months after welcoming their third child together.

According to a source, she decided it was time to move forward by selling some of the sentimental items she and Richie used to share together.

‘Helen needed a huge sort out after the break-up and despite some of the items possessing many memories, she felt it was best she sold them on,’ they told The Sun.

It Takes Two returns at 6:30pm on BBC Two, and Strictly Come Dancing airs next Sunday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
