Olivia Colman has revealed she jetted to Denmark in order to help pack emergency supplies for Ukrainian children.

The Oscar winner visited the Unicef warehouse in Copenhagen to offer her aid, and sent essentials as well as a hand-written note.

Olivia said: ‘It’s so important that children can receive this kind of support. A bomb is dropped, you lose everything.

‘You lose your right and your ability to be clean and to feel safe, and for children their right to play and learn and feel nourished and looked after and cared for. And that’s why this is so important.’

She added to The Mirror: ‘There is no child in the world who is responsible for any war, and amazing people here make sure that they’re not forgotten and they’re looked after.’

Among the supplies that Olivia helped to pack were puzzles, puppets, balls and games.

She also sent essential items including midwifery kits, medical supplies and hygiene essentials to other countries experiencing humanitarian crises, including Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Yemen.

Russia first invaded Ukraine in February. It’s reported that at least 14,000 people have died in the war so far.

Sean Penn is also among the stars to have been offering aid, with the director flying to Ukraine to speak with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

During his last visit, the filmmaker took his Oscar, and told Zelensky to bring it back to Malibu ‘when Ukraine wins’.

In a video shared on the president’s Telegram channel, Penn told him: ‘It’s just a symbolic silly thing, but if I know this is here then I’ll feel better and strong enough for the fights.

‘When you win, bring it back to Malibu, because I’ll feel much better knowing there’s a piece of me here.”

Sir Rod Stewart, Chris Tarrant, and various other celebrities have also helped from the UK, opening up their homes to Ukrainian families.
