Kyle Richards has opened up about the future of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, confirming that it is ‘on pause’.

Season 12 of the Bravo franchise had fans threatening to turn off after unseen drama on the cast trip to Aspen left the stars – including Kathy Hilton, Lisa Rinna, Erika Jayne Girardi and Garcelle Beauvais – fractured.

A heated reunion saw very little resolved, with question marks on who will be returning to the RHOBH fold next year.

After Andy Cohen confirmed that they were ‘taking a minute break’, Kyle addressed when we could possibly see the gang back on our screens while on the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards 2022.

When asked if it was ‘true or false’ that the program is ‘on pause’, she told Extra: ‘True but I think “pause” is the word of the moment. It sounds more dramatic than it actually is. I think we just want to shift our schedule.

‘We used to start in April, it’s inched its way over the years, but we are starting later this time.

‘People think there must be some drama, “They are starting late,” it’s not that serious.’

The most recent series came to an end in October following a three-part reunion, but it was clear that issues between the Housewives, also including Sutton Stracke, Diana Jenkins and Crystal Kung Minkoff, could not be settled.

Andy, who served as reunion host, was forced to issue an apology for his own behavior during one part.

He was called out by viewers for ignoring Garcelle’s emotional response to a chat regarding her book, and instead making jokes with Lisa and Erika when they quipped about throwing it away.

Viewers were incensed by the scenes and voiced their fury on social media, with the presenter explaining that he had reached out privately.

‘I need to really sincerely apologize,’ he said on SiriusXM. ‘Not only for diverting the topic but for not returning – even worse – to the serious conversation that was at hand.

‘I have deep admiration for Garcelle. She and I had a really good, productive conversation last Thursday. I should have been more in tune with her feelings.

‘I just wanted to say that because I’ve been logging in and I get it.’

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Bravo in the US and is available to stream on hayu in the UK.
