Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs the World star Victoria Scone has looked back on the time she was forced to drop out of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 3, admitting she felt as though she ‘let fans down’.

In 2021, viewers across the globe were introduced to the wonder that is Victoria – not only a supremely talented drag queen, but also the first cisgender woman to take part in the franchise.

However, her time in the competition was cruelly cut short due to a painful knee injury, resulting in her withdrawing in only the third week of the competition.

Nonetheless, fans of Victoria’s knew her return was imminent… and sure enough, she’s now back and competing in an international spin-off, having spoken to Metro.co.uk about how she felt to grace the Drag Race stage once again.

In the latest episode of Canada vs the World, Victoria rose to the top as the winner of the week after Icesis Couture decided to leave the series, with the UK queen conquering the Comedy Queens challenge and beating Silky Nutmeg Ganache in the lip sync for the well-deserved victory.

Addressing her Drag Race comeback, Victoria told us: ‘It feels good. It feels terrifying. I feel like I’m finally getting my chance to redeem myself. I was so very disappointed to leave [Drag Race UK season three] – I felt like I let you all down. Which I did, to put it bluntly.’

Victoria laughed at this statement, as we reassured her that in our eyes, she did anything but let anyone down.

The 29-year-old continued: ‘I’m not back in the way that people thought – I think people were expecting me to go back for season four. But I’ve gone international baby. Who wouldn’t take the opportunity to compete with international drag queens on an international level in another country?’

On the inaugural season of Canada vs the World, Victoria is competing alongside fellow UK queen Vanity Milan, who narrowly missed out on a spot in the final of Drag Race UK season three.

Addressing the fact that they’re the only UK queens in the line-up, she said: ‘I’m glad it was Vanity, someone that I know and have a relationship with anyway, and that’s only got stronger. I felt like I had a good gal with Vanity. I felt like we had each other’s back.’

During episode three of Canada vs the World, Victoria blew the fans, her fellow queens and the judges away by debuting her drag king persona, Victor Stone, on the main stage, making a strong statement in support of drag kings and their right for recognition and respect.

Speaking about the hopeful inclusion of drag kings on Drag Race in future, Victoria said: ‘I mean, that’s the goal isn’t it? To get drag kings on there.’

The performer, who hails from Cardiff and is currently starring in the West End production Death Drop: Back In The Habit, paid homage to Dakota Schiffer, who was the first trans queen ever to compete on Drag Race UK, having recently taken part in season four.

Addressing her own herstory-making moment as the first and only cisgender woman to be on the series, Victoria added: ‘I’m not gonna lie, I say all the time – it’s lonely up here, being the only cis woman, and the goal is to have drag kings on. I don’t see why we couldn’t.’

Victoria’s current production Death Drop: Back In The Habit has gone on a tour spanning into the new year, having began its run at The Garrick Theatre in London’s West End.

The cast also boasts Drag Race UK season one star Cheryl Hole, season three contestant River Medway, US queen Willam and drag king LoUis CYfer in a show that combines humour with horror.

‘This is my West End debut, my professional acting debut. This is what I always wanted. I got there in a bit of a roundabout way, got there through drag. But we’ve got there in the end,’ Victoria said.

‘I’m very proud to be part of this cast in the show because ultimately, it’s got a drag king lead and they’re pretty fantastic. I’m very proud to be part of a show that has that on the West End, and we’re going on tour for the rest of the year into next year.’

Continuing to shower the play with praise, Victoria gushed: ‘I love the show. It’s so funny. It will make you wee yourself because people forget it’s a horror, so it’s a little bit scary, a little bit creepy, but it’s also so funny. I said to people, if you don’t have a little bit of wee come out, I’ll personally give you a tenner from me.’

Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs The World is available to watch on WOW Presents Plus and BBC iPlayer. You can find tickets for Death Drop: Back In The Habit here.
