He’s certainly distancing himself from politics now.

Matt Hancock is loving life after I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

To say the former health secretary was a controversial signing this series would be an understatement, as his stint in the jungle was met with serious backlash.

However, the politician ended up placing third in the ITV reality show, with Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner in second and Lioness Jill Scott crowned Queen of the Jungle.

Now, though, Hancock is stepping back from politics after announcing he won’t be running for the Conservative Party in the next general election.

And the new chapter in his life began with a date night with Gina Coladangelo at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball on Saturday.

The 44-year-old grinned as he cosied up to his girlfriend, whom he began an affair with at the height of the pandemic and, as a result, was forced to resign from his senior position in the cabinet.

Seeing Hancock enjoying a gig at London’s O2 Arena is certainly surreal, but he and Gina were all smiles while performances from the likes of Coldplay, Sam Smith, and Lewis Capaldi took place.

Sadly for Hancock, there was no Ed Sheeran this year, after the disgraced politician made no secret of his love for the songwriter during I’m A Celeb, even bursting into song at one point.

Hancock also reunited with one of his former campmates at the annual festive event – A Place in the Sun host, Scarlette Douglas.

Scarlette was more than happy to be pictured with him, as she too got into the Christmas spirit in a sequin-encrusted outfit.

There have been plenty of reports that other campmates aren’t so keen on remaining pals with Hancock, though.

Jungle Queen Jill recently said she hadn’t had a message from the MP since winning the show.

Meanwhile, Culture Club singer Boy George has had plenty to say about Hancock’s reasons for singing up for the show.

Sharing his verdict on Hancock’s stint Down Under, he told The Sun: ‘He did it because he wants to kick up his heels and have a good time.

‘We all know that politicians are real people. We also know everyone wants to be a rock star, everybody. Especially politicians.

‘So it’s impossible to believe some people’s reasons for doing something.’

The outspoken Karma Chameleon hitmaker alleged that Hancock wants a ‘bigger profile’ and ‘more attention’.

But there doesn’t seem to be too much bad blood between the pair – despite George making his feelings clear about the politician while on the show.

Earlier this week, they attended one of Seann Walsh’s stand-up gigs together, before enjoying a drink at a pub later that night.

Sharing a snap to Instagram, comic Seann joked that it will ‘never be normal’ to be mates with the award-winning musician and former health minister.

But, with Hancock tipped to become a Good Morning Britain host and getting in on the TikTok action, there could be plenty more abnormal things to come.
